My name is Jesse Simmons and I’m very happy to meet you! I want to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself and why photography is such a passion of mine. I believe that everyday is a chance to learn more and to experiment with my camera.

I began my love affair with the camera back in my high school days at Albia Community High School while playing around with my dad’s DSLR.  I’m not going to lie I had no idea what all the buttons could do and I just point and take pictures while playing around until I got something good. But, as a student and enjoyed what my dad was doing, I was eager to learn. I asked my dad questions, learn what each button did from trial and error.  I took a photography class my freshmen year of college at Iowa Central Community College and while out with friends walking around campus  and taking pictures I realize that photography is what I wanted to do as a career.  I continued my education in photography at Northwest Missouri State University learning how the camera worked from with in, and learning from the past masters of photography.  I had the chance to work with film cameras, in the darkroom, with digital cameras, and in the studio to hone in on my knowledge of photography.  The more I became acquainted with my camera and learned how to manipulate it, the more I fell in love with the art of taking pictures. I am a member of the Professional Photographer of Iowa where I am able to continue my education with photography.

I hope that from this brief introduction of myself, you understand that I am not just a man who takes random pictures, but that I am a photographer and I don’t just click the shutter button on my camera.  Hope to be able to meet with you soon!
